WHAT IS THAT?
Apple
cider vinegar comes from apples that have been crushed, distilled and then
fermented. It is credited with the virtue of helping in weight loss when
1-2 tsp. tablespoons are consumed as a supplement before a meal.
Studies
on laboratory rats have shown that its high content of acetic acid could
prevent fat storage and improve basal metabolism. Another study on vinegar
(1), this one on humans, reportedly showed weight loss of 2-4 lbs in 3
months. So yeah, you do lose weight with apple cider vinegar.
WHAT IT REALLY IS
Several
cautions should be made about the use of this product. First, vinegar can
damage tooth enamel due to its high acidity, so it is recommended to dilute it
rather than consuming it as is. Additionally, apple cider vinegar has the
ability to alter the response to insulin, so people with diabetes should be
vigilant with its use.
Besides
the potential dangers, the fact that few studies exist about apple cider
vinegar is enough to cool us off about its daily use as a method of weight
loss. If it really worked, we would have clearer data ...
Also,
and as mentioned above, a weight loss of 2-4 lbs in 3 months is listed. 2
lbs in 12 weeks (3 months) is 0.16 lbs per week… while with a healthy weight
loss, you can aim for an average of 1lb / week… or 10-12 lbs in 3
months. Not very convincing, don't you think?
So what
is healthy and effective weight loss? It's a little bit of physical
activity every day with a tailor-made program by a kinesiologist, a balanced
and personalized diet by a nutritionist and adequate water consumption
according to your needs.
Finally,
remember that the magic bullet for weight loss is not a pill, a supplement, or
a little magic potion. The solution is to be active and eat well!
